Just squirt a little gas directly into the carburetor and if it doesn't start then there is something wrong. Ether is way to explosive and volatile for a small engine to handle. It is ONLY recommended in Diesel engines in SMALL Amounts as it is. They are built for high compression because that is what makes the ignition.
